Özet

Bu çalışma, ağızda kafein çalkalamanın kısa mesafe serbest stil yüzme performansına etkisini araştırmayı amaçlamıştır. Araştırma grubu, en az 10 yıllık antrenman geçmişine sahip 48 erkek yüzücüden (yaş: 20 ± 2 yıl, boy uzunluğu: 178 ± 4 cm, vücut ağırlığı: 75 ± 5 kg, VKİ: 22 ± 2 kg/m²) oluşmaktadır. Çift kör ve çapraz tasarım kullanılarak katılımcılara %3 kafein içeren 25 mL'lik bir çözelti ya da plasebo (su) verilmiştir. Performans, FINA onaylı Swiss Timing sistemleri ile ölçülmüştür. Nicel değişkenlerin normal dağılımı Shapiro-Wilk testiyle, bireysel ölçüm değişimleri ise Wilcoxon testiyle analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada p<0,05 olan sonuçlar istatistiksel olarak anlamlı kabul edilmiştir.Sonuçlar ağızda kafein çalkalamanın hem 25m (Ortalama=16,546 saniye) hem de 50m (Ortalama=32,455 saniye) mesafelerde ortalama yüzme sürelerini plasebo koşuluna (Ortalama=16,789 saniye ve 32,902 saniye) göre anlamlı şekilde iyileştirdiğini göstermektedir. Araştırmadan elde ettiğimiz bulgular, ağızda kafein çalkalamanın kısa mesafe serbest stil performansını artırmada etkili bir yardımcı olabileceğini öne sürmektedir.
