Özet

Bu araştırma otizm spektrum bozukluğunda (OSB) sık görülen vestibüler duyu temelli motor beceri sorunlarına ve bu sorunların oluşturduğu tepkisel davranışların belirlenmesi ve vestibüler regülasyonu hedefleyen egzersiz önerileri oluşturmak amacı ile tasarlanmıştır. Vestibüler sistem ile sinir sistemi arasında karşılıklı bir etkileşim söz konusudur. Yani vestibüler duyudaki sorunlar bilişsel süreçleri olumsuz etkilerken benzer şekilde sinir sitemindeki bozukluklar/farklılıklarda vestibüler duyu üzerinde olumsuz etkiler oluşturarak bireyin denge odaklı motor becerilerinden bilişsel ve davranışsal becerilerine kadar uzanan bir dizi gelişim alanını olumsuz etkileyebilmektedir. Sinir sistemindeki yapısal ya da fonksiyonel bozulmadan kaynaklanan ve vestibüler duyuya dair negatif etkilerin olduğu nörogelişimsel bozukluklardan birisi de otizm spektrum bozukluğudur. OSB ilişkili vestibüler sistemin fonksiyonelliğinde meydana gelebilecek problemler, temelde hareketlere hipersensitivite veya hiposensitivite tepkilerin ortaya çıkmasına neden olabilir. Bu davranışlar bireylerin günlük yaşamında ihtiyaç duyulan motor koordinasyonun gösterilmesinde önemli sorunlara neden olabilir. Sonuç olarak vestibüler sistemdeki problemler motor öğrenme, algısal motor beceriler ve öğrenme sorunlarına yol açabilir. Bu ise nörobiyolojik kökenli bozukluklarda (otizm vb.) görülen bazı sorunların temeline ışık tutmaktadır. Vestibüler duyu kaynaklı duyusal entegrasyona bağlı oluşan sorunlar için vestibüler uyaran (regülasyon) egzersiz önerileri oluşturulmuştur.
