Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the faculty of sport sicences students motivation to participate in physical activity COVID-19 period according to the variables such as gender, class, nutrition, do regular sports, do sports place, the effect of the epidemic on sports and the effects of the epidemic on daily life. The general screening method was used in the research. The sample of the research consisted of 114 volunteer students Malatya İnönü University, Faculty of Sport Sciences, Exercise and Sports Education for the Disabled selected by the simple random sampling method. Inthe study, Motivation Scale For Participation In Physical Activity (MSPPA) was used. The data analysis of the research was carried out in SPSS 22.0 statistics package program for Windows®. Normality distribution was done by Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test. The differences between the groups were determined using independent sample t-test (Independent Samples T-Test) and one-way analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA) and Post-Hoc LSD tests. As a result of the study, it was determined that the motivations of the students of the Faculty of Sport Sciences in the COVID-19 period have significant differences in terms of gender, nutrition, do regular sports, do sports place, the effect of the epidemic on sports and the effects of the epidemic on daily life. The results of the research showed that although there are many limitations during the COVID-19 epidemic period, students continue their regular physical activity activities in order to be protected from the negative effects of the epidemic and to stay healthy and fit.
